Two-horned Box Crab (Calappa bicornis) – Preserved Crab Specimen
The Two-horned Box Crab (Calappa bicornis), also known as the Bicorn Box Crab, is a distinctive marine crab belonging to the family Calappidae. It is recognized for its broad, rounded carapace and the pair of prominent horn-like projections at the front of its shell, giving the species its common name. Like other box crabs, it has large flattened claws that fold tightly against the front of its body, forming a protective shield. This species inhabits sandy seabeds, coral reefs, lagoons, and shallow coastal waters throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific region.
This professionally preserved specimen showcases the crab's unique horned carapace, powerful shield-like claws, and detailed anatomical features. Carefully preserved to maintain its natural appearance, it is an exceptional addition to marine biology collections, educational displays, museums, curiosity cabinets, and natural history collections.
Each specimen is individually prepared, making every crab a unique representation of this remarkable box crab species.
